Jewel and the Rough is more than just a Denver area Rock and Roll band performing covers from the '70's, '80's, '90's and now. . .
Jewel the Rough is the band for those who NEED to rock. Comprised of five distinctive personalities, the band is an unparalleled example of how the sum can be greater than the individual parts it was derived from. Individually, the band members bring many different personal experiences and musical influences to the stage, then gel them together, forming a commanding and dynamic live entertainment experience.
Jewel the Rough's stage presence is that of a high-energy rock concert - gaining power and energy from the crowd. The band feeds off the audience energy while continually involving them and drawing them into a rock and roll experience like no other. From Bon Jovi to Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard to Collective Soul and Guns Roses to Journey to the Black Eyed Peas. . . you get it all (and then some) from Jewel the Rough.

• When Steve Thomas begins to sing, it’s not uncommon to hear someone say, “How does he hit those notes?!â€. He has an amazingly high and powerful range, and it gives Steve a strong connection with his audience. Listeners have compared his voice with the likes of Steve Perry of Journey, Sting of The Police and other great high tenors of rock*. And yet, Steve's voice is uniquely his own.
• What kind of person is Steve Thomas? The comments of independent engineer / producer Steve Avedis, (Air supply, Tony Bennett, etc.) typify why people like to work with Steve Thomas: “He’s witty and very funny, he can really lighten up a serious session. His creativity is contagious, he does quick work, and he’s a real team player. When Steve’s involved, it elevates the projectâ€.
* OTHER COMPARISONS: Lou Gramm of Foreigner, Steve Walsh of Kansas, and Mickey Thomas of Jefferson Starship.

Bill Capsalis - Vocals Basses
From his Motor City roots to the wild west - bassist Bill Capsalis brings the bottom end to the band. He's played with numerous bands in the Boulder/Denver metro area - everything from alt country, Zydeco and Cajun to Jazz R B with some good old Rock and Roll thrown in for good measure. He favors a finger style approach utilizing four strings on passive Fender basses - all run through Ampeg amps for the true authentic bass thump we all remember. He also adds background vocals in the band
David Heck - Vocals Drums
David attended the University of Georgia where he completed his music degree in Percussion Performance. He did a 3 year stint as staff drummer and vocalist at Opryland before touring for 4 years with Gospel and Country star Cristy Lane.
