Objective: The study focused on gaining an understanding of existing tourism related offerings along the Oodnadatta Track (OT), defining its tourism potential and identifying some of the obstacles to reaching that potential.
Methods: Data was collected through extensive internet searches and a field study. In-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with the providers of tourism services and other stakeholders.
Result and conclusions: The OT has significant tourism potential due to its vibrant heritage and it’s remote setting. To date this potential is largely unrealized due to such factors as infrastructure, funding, and collaboration.
