  • We examine technologies that enhance decision making by rangeland managers. We focus on technology and systems that are publicly available to assist land managers (versus those used in research arenas). Technology can provide data that allows informed management decisions across large scales and more repeatably through time. We discuss two groups of technologies and information management systems: (i) those that acquire spatial information and the software that turns that data into useable management information; and (ii) those that allow remote control and management of infrastructure, livestock and natural resources. The impact of these technologies on pastoral enterprises is discussed.
