Desart's Aboriginal Artworker Program is an ambitious intiative to increase the number of Aboriginal people employed in administrative positions in the Aboriginal art industry.
The program has established a target of 60 Aboriginal employees within three years in a context where there are currently very few Aboriginal support workers.
This task involves a critical paradigm shift in remote communities. It also involves integrated support from government, business, registered training organisations and philanthropic donors.
Delivery will involve the provision of appropriate training, but it will also require an ongoing commitment to the provision of ongoing employment.
