Using technology for expanding options in desert educational contexts
New technologies are playing a role in the development of appropriate educational frameworks for Aboriginal people. Such frameworks provide for constructivist, intergenerational and social approaches to learning and engage with local needs and aspirations. Innovative education and training initiatives that highlight interfaces between Aboriginal people, place, education and training, enterprise and technology will be discussed.
Interactive distance learning, online recognition of prior learning, e-portfolios and web-based collaborative tools are part of the new VET practitioner 'toolkit'. New technologies have a significant role to play in the development of learning networks, resources and spaces for Aboriginal people.
