Indigenous Governance: a slice of reality

  • Ms Carla Davey, Charles Darwin University, Australia
  • The concept of governing seems simplistic: a governing agent that oversees and manages their community to build success. However, there is the question that Indigenous governance is ineffective. Which brings about the question, how do we measure failure within governance? In the event to examine these questions, a survey was used to find alarming results from Indigenous directors working within organisations that focus on indigenous outcomes. There is a gap between what acedemics are writing compared to what is being said by people working within indigenous organisations – I would like to present this to support ‘making remote governance work’.
