Making Families and Communities Strong Through Small Business
There’ve been many programs developed over the years with the aim of improving the status of Indigenous Australians. Yet their effect is questionable given that the majority of Indigenous people remain on the lowest rungs of the socio-economic ladder.
It seems that little has changed from evidence presented to the Standing Committee on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs 1998, the Indigenous Business Review 2003, to the case studies in this research. Areas that are crucial to business development and sustainability seems to continue to elude those government departments who have a mandate for assisting the development of Indigenous business.
